For this daily create, we to tell a story using two images. This describes my friend so well because not only is this image funny, there is some truth in it because he is an extremely good tennis player. This assignment was pretty easy, I just put the two images I wanted into a collage app and it generated the image. Then I put some text over it to tell what was going on.
For this assignment, I used five of my favorite ds106 assignments to make a video compilation of what I think is my best work. This assignment was very fun because I got to go and look back at what I have learned and done in the class over the course of the month. It was relatively easy to do since I had all the tools I needed right in my ePortfolio. In order to make the slide show I used a website called Animoto.com the site was very easy to use, all I needed to do was to drag and drop the pictures I wanted to use in the slide show. The only thing I did not like was that the video automatically has a water mark on it unless you upgrade to the premium version, I really did not want to pay for it though. In all I would have to say this was my favorite assignment because the video looks good and it was a very good reflection on what the class is about and all of the interesting skills and tools we use in order to create art.
For this assignment we had to photoshop ourselves into a historical picture. In this picture I am seen standing next to John, Paul and George, replacing Ringo. The reason why I chose Ringo was because typically he’s the one that people pay the least attention to so no one would know he was gone. To make this picture I first had to make a cut out of myself from a picture of me. I did that using a website called pixlr.com. After I found this picture of the Beatles and pasted myself onto the image. before I could do that though I had to make the picture of myself black and white, in order to match the black and white image. I did this also by using Pixlr.com This assignment was a bit difficult for me because I am horrible with using photoshop and it is hard cut a picture of myself out using the mouse pad on my laptop, it is very sensitive. I really did enjoy the creativity of this assignment because the concept of placing yourself in a historical event in time is interesting to me. I love the Beatles so if was fun to almost make it look like I was part of the group, even though I have no musical ability what so ever.
This was a very cool daily create because we got the opportunity to turn text into hieroglyphics. Hieroglyphics have always been interesting to me because they are pictures for text essentially, which were used by Egyptians. This assignment was pretty straight forward and simple. I put the text that I wanted into the generator on the ds106 website and generated what I wanted to say. After I saved the picture and tweeted it. My inspiration came from being an Arsenal fan and saying that Arsenal will win the league. This is ironic because the last time Arsenal won the league was probably around the time the Egyptians were around.
This was a cool daily create because I always enjoy editing ds106 assignments. This picture looks a little grainy because the picture I used of me was a black and white picture. I still think it turned out decent seeing as this is one of the only pictures I have of me. The app that we used was very simple and easy to use, all you had to do was upload a picture from your computer. I like how in the picture there aren’t a many outlines but you can still make out that it’s a person in the picture.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been accused by the Spanish government of of evading 14.7 million worth of taxes. The Real Madrid Forward has not allegedly not paid a certain number of taxes for 6 years being in Spain. He is set to move clubs this summer but if found guilty he could possibly be sent to prison for 5 years. This would be a devastating blow to football as Ronaldo has been described as the best player in the world. Although there is much anxiety over this I believe Ronaldo’s chances of going to jail are extremely slim.
Status
Ronaldo is renowned as possibly the best player ever. He makes 32 million Euros a year so he can afford the best legal team in all of Europe. In the past Both Messi and Neymar, two other of the world’s top players have also been charged with tax fraud and are still playing for their club F.C. Barcelona and not in jail. If those two are able to avoid jail time then the world’s greatest player, Ronaldo should as well.
Spain’s Legal System
In Spain, for most first time offenses with tax fraud, the sentence can be served outside of jail. This means that Ronaldo, if found guilty, will be able to continue to play football just like Messi and Neymar are doing. Even though Ronaldo faces up to five years in prison he can most likely get a lighter sentence via his legal team’s help.
Ronaldo is undoubtably one of the greatest athletes in the world and the best footballer at the moment. He has won 4 Ballon D’or’s, and has millions worth of brand deals. It is inexcusable for a person make so much money to be a little bit short on their taxes. All of these footballers who make millions are always trying give the government the run around when it really does not make a difference to them at all. When you are making that much you should not have to worry about taxes.
In our ENG 304 class we have been learning all about webpages and coding. The two content structures we have been using are HTML and CSS. Both of these are very popular with a lot of webpages. I really enjoyed learning how to create webpages, inserting images and text and seeing what really goes into creating a webpage. We also learned how to connect webpages, change font size and color of text. These tutorials help a lot with our class because most of what we do has to do with the internet in some way I had no idea how much effort it takes in creating webpages and I have a lot more appreciation for it now. The tutorials on Codecademy were very easy to follow and to the point. It was very easy to pick up as a beginner. I do have some other experience with coding from a web design class I took in high school, but we did not go into as much depth as we did in this class. Above is an image that I screenshotted from the website which showed that I have completed the lesson 100%. I am interested in the other tutorials this website has to offer as I now have a new fascination with webpages.
For this assignment I decided to make a family collage. My family unfortunately does not have a lot of pictures of all of us together so I thought I would make this not only for class but also for my mother. The picture includes me at the bottom, my sister bottom right, my brother bottom left, my dad top left, my mom top right, our cat at the top, and our dogs on both sides. This assignment was a little difficult at first because I didn’t know how to go about it. then I decided I wanted to use the original Brady Bunch picture template and put our faces on it. I found one on the internet here and then I took screen shots from pictures of our faces. After I put the template into a photo editor and made it the background. Next I put each individual picture into each cell over the template then added some text to finish it. I tried to make it as unique as possible by using the play on words “The Verville Variety”. It’s a little corny but it fits. This assignment was very interesting because I never really thought of this concept before and the Brady bunch used to be one of my favorite shows.
For this assignment we had to find a movie poster for a move with the plot of “A mermaid rebuilds the Brooklyn Bridge out of paradoxes.” I picked this picture because the movie makes me think that the movie would be some kind of fantasy adventure. This assignment was challenging at first because I did not have any pictures on hand that would fit this movie plot so I had to go to the web in order to find one. The picture is from belasbrightideas.com which is another site which also uses WordPress. I look forward to other assignments such as this one.
This daily create was fairly straight forward. We had to take a picture using the ASCII camera. I really enjoyed the way the photo came out even though some parts of it are a little hard to see. It is a picture of me and my coworker while we were sitting at the desk today. I thought that the way the picture was made up entirely of numbers and letters was very interesting. It makes me wonder how the camera generates its text in order to make the picture. I also thought it was ironic that the picture is made up of text yet you can barely read any actually text from the picture.
